[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome to B and C Book Club. I'm Kristen. [00:00:04] Speaker B: And I'm Summer. The purpose of B and C Book Club is to bring you all the comfort and gossip of a regular book club. But just between you, me and her. [00:00:13] Speaker A: And you may be wondering, the B and C stand for. Well, the B stands for blossom and. [00:00:18] Speaker B: The C stands for crazy. I'm feeling crazy today. [00:00:22] Speaker A: How have you been lately? [00:00:23] Speaker B: I'm good. I got a new plant today. It was a very big plant, so it took me a little bit to repot it and everything and then get it in its place. [00:00:36] Speaker A: Is it in the place where all of your other plants go or do you put it somewhere special? [00:00:40] Speaker B: It's on the lower shelf. [00:00:42] Speaker A: Oh, okay. [00:00:44] Speaker B: So because it's the lower shelf and then it looks in level with all the other plants because it's so far down. Yeah. What about you? What's going on in your life? [00:00:56] Speaker A: I've just been still hanging out with my nieces and nephews lately. My sister was just gone on a work trip all day today. Actually, she left at like 4:30 in the morning and got back at 5. [00:01:12] Speaker B: Wow. [00:01:12] Speaker A: So I had them the full morning. [00:01:14] Speaker B: Dang. And what did they just call you? [00:01:17] Speaker A: Stinky Booty. [00:01:19] Speaker B: Stinky Booty? [00:01:20] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:01:20] Speaker B: Good night. [00:01:21] Speaker A: Anti. [00:01:21] Speaker B: Stinky Booty. [00:01:22] Speaker A: Yeah. I said good night. I love you. Yeah. And he said, good night, Auntie. Stinky Booty. Obviously. Obviously. [00:01:31] Speaker B: Obviously. That's what you're supposed to. [00:01:34] Speaker A: That's the only correct response. [00:01:36] Speaker B: Only correct one. Last week we went over chapter one through 20 of fourth wing and we left off. What was it? [00:01:46] Speaker A: Right when they kill Amber. [00:01:50] Speaker B: They kill Amber and Liam officially becomes Violet's bodyguard. [00:01:55] Speaker A: Right. [00:01:57] Speaker B: Right. Actually, let's start with what your thoughts were before you started the second half of the book. [00:02:03] Speaker A: I mean, my thoughts are basically the same of what my ending thoughts were for the first half of the book. I don't know, because at this point I wasn't sure what the threat was going to be. It isn't until the end of this chapter that I actually started having a running theory because I just didn't have anything as I started. [00:02:21] Speaker B: Right. They didn't give you all that information yet? [00:02:24] Speaker A: No. So I do really feel like this is a change. I don't know. I was just curious about how this story moves forward because it's been pretty contained so far and it does need to, I'm assuming, branch out and go into other places. Because this is, as far as I know right now, a three book series. There might be more, but we are just Getting the foundation. How is this going to build out more? I need to know what other things are. [00:02:52] Speaker B: Right? So we come back, Liam is her bodyguard. You're getting more information. And then at the end of chapter 21, your theory is leadership is corrupt. [00:03:06] Speaker A: Yeah. So they. While they. They're like, doing something in the archives, they accidentally get. They get told to bring battle plans back to the teacher that's in the battle area, and they accidentally see some of the stuff, and then they go to the battle brief, and none of the leadership tells them about what's in the stuff. But the scroll wasn't confidential, so they're wondering why they aren't getting this information. And so because of that, I was like, okay, so then leadership is corrupt. Is this something where it's going to be not an outside threat, but an inside threat? More like. And then I was like, well, maybe the trade agreement between the two kingdoms is compromised. And are they trading like they're supposed to be training? Do you know what I mean? Are they acting like they're the good ones when they're really just not giving the other people what they want? And that Zaden all along has been on the right side and his family has been on the right side. Or is it something that's outside of the other kingdom that is threatening them in order to make them need more supplies? [00:04:08] Speaker B: Right. [00:04:09] Speaker A: So that's why they keep on like, attacking their kingdom. Because there is something else that's even worse that is causing them to lose more supplies than they normally do. Do you know what I mean? That was. That was my running theory. [00:04:22] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, it's a good theory. It makes sense. [00:04:26] Speaker A: But I again, was like, going off of nothing. I was like, okay, it's just like a little shady or something. That's like, crazy. It's a little. [00:04:34] Speaker B: A little shady. [00:04:35] Speaker A: It's just. Just a little bit. I don't know. It's not anything. There wasn't any particulars with anything. It's like, okay, they didn't tell you about one random battle. But there's been so many issues with the border towns that, like, are they really going to tell you every single one? Do you think so? I don't know. [00:04:53] Speaker B: Okay, moving on. We come to one of the really Good chapters, chapter 22. [00:04:59] Speaker A: This is a good chapter because this is when we see the fight with Jack, basically. [00:05:06] Speaker B: And I mean, we're thinking two different things here, Kristen, on why it's a good chapter. [00:05:11] Speaker A: Why do you think it's a good chapter then? [00:05:13] Speaker B: No, I'll accept the Jack, answer for now. [00:05:17] Speaker A: Okay, well, first she sees him in. She sees Zayden in the training room, and she's like, oh, man, he's hot. And then she gets distracted for, like, two and a half pages. And then this is when her powers manifest. [00:05:27] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Yes, yes. Yeah. [00:05:30] Speaker A: So because of the whole fight with. Well, like the mini fight with Jack where she's like, calls him a coward and he lunges at her and then everybody else takes him away, basically. And because of that, Taran is like, oh, you kept your cool in there. And I was like, did she. Did she keep her cool? Okay, that's fine, if you want to say that. But then he. He gives her the powers to manifest. [00:05:55] Speaker B: Her signet power, and she starts failing all of the feelings that Tarn does. [00:06:02] Speaker A: Yeah. And so Taran, apparently is, like, getting it on with his lady because she's feeling some type of way, and she basically wants to fuck anything that walks by her. So she goes downstairs and she gets out of her dorm because dragons need sex lives too. Kristen, obviously. [00:06:25] Speaker B: Obviously. [00:06:26] Speaker A: So she leaves, and she sees Zaden, and he's smoking because he's like. Yeah, sometimes they forget to block you out, and it sucks that this is your first day manifesting because you really need to learn how to block it out. [00:06:39] Speaker B: Really? You really, really do. [00:06:42] Speaker A: So he offers to teach her a little bit, and she actually is able to figure out how to block really easily. And she just pictures the archives and she becomes instantly grounded. And once she blocks him out, Zaden's like, wow, you did that really fast. Took me weeks to do that. And she's like, oh, my God, he complimented me. And then they make out, like, a lot. [00:07:06] Speaker B: They. [00:07:07] Speaker A: I don't. [00:07:08] Speaker B: I couldn't. I wouldn't say they make out a lot, but they make out, and it's their first kiss, and it's like this big, big moment, and she's, like, hearing thunder and. [00:07:22] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:22] Speaker B: And it's manifesting in ways that they didn't think possible. Right, right. [00:07:28] Speaker A: And then her. Yeah. Because her control slips, and then as soon as her control slips, then Zayden pushes her away and is like, it's not your desire, it's Taryn's. And I don't want you to do this when you don't feel the way that you should be feeling. [00:07:43] Speaker B: And this is a chapter where you can really see that Rebecca Yarros, our lovely, lovely writer. Rebecca is super good at writing romance because that's what she specializes in, is romance novels. And so you kind of get to see her do what she's best at in this chapter. And it really shows. [00:08:05] Speaker A: It does show. And I'm like, wow, he's like super, super into her. Okay, got it. [00:08:09] Speaker B: What about you? Are you super, super into him? [00:08:13] Speaker A: I do, like, daydream. Like, I like him when my other option is Dane. I'm like, any option other than fucking Dane is a good option. Like Dane, I'm gonna tell you, Dane does go up in my day is now at the end of this book, Dane is at like a two out of ten. [00:08:35] Speaker B: Just a two. [00:08:36] Speaker A: Just. But at this point in the book, Dane is at about a negative 50 out of 10. So he does climb, but he's still not anywhere near a good person. [00:08:49] Speaker B: Climbs for you because between this point and the end of the book, Dane should definitely drop a couple points. [00:08:58] Speaker A: Okay. I honestly, I didn't give myself a check in at the end of the book. Actually, you know what? After what he does the other book, I'm gonna lie. I'm gonna say it's back probably to a negative 10. But like, he chills out a little bit after. After her sister talks to him, he chills out a little bit. [00:09:18] Speaker B: We're getting ahead of ourselves. But I don't really think he. He definitely doesn't deserve a negative 10 after a negative 50. Like, he should go negative 50 to negative 100. Okay. But I will tell you, since you already know the ending and you know our feelings about Dane, there's a. There's a popular bookmark on like, Etsy or something where it says Dane is a. [00:09:46] Speaker A: Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one because I haven't read anything about what other people perceive this to be because I didn't want spoilers. And so I could have been the only one who's like, fuck Dane. But I'm glad I'm not. [00:09:58] Speaker B: No, you're definitely not. And I can't wait to send you all of the videos I see on, like, social media that are always like, remember Dane, he sucks. Like, just hate, pure hate for Dane. Pure unfiltered hate for Dane. [00:10:17] Speaker A: And I feel like Rebecca tries to make him a good person because she always is. Like, he's my closest friend. He's my oldest friend. I should love him. Like, she's trying to give us some sympathy for the character and every single time I'm like, no, he should know better. No, no, no. [00:10:32] Speaker B: But that's what makes her such a great artist because she's able to like, write his character as like, oh, but he didn't mean to do it. He. He. He had no other choice, you know, especially his last act. And that's something that I admire, because when I hate a character. Wait, I just. [00:10:51] Speaker A: He doesn't die? [00:10:52] Speaker B: No, he doesn't die. He doesn't die in either book. [00:10:57] Speaker A: Okay. [00:10:57] Speaker B: Spoiler. He's still alive. Anyway, she tries to write him as, like, a redeemable character in the future. Right. Eventually, maybe, yeah, we'll forgive him, but he's. At the same time, you still have so much hatred for him, you know? [00:11:21] Speaker A: Yeah. Anyway, he's terrible. [00:11:24] Speaker B: Moving on. [00:11:25] Speaker A: Chapter 23 is where we now have the fight with Jack, Right? But, yes, in this, she also has a conversation with Dane, which is her first conversation with Dane since Amber died, which has now been like a month and a half, almost two months since that happened. And he hasn't spoken directly to her, and he's in charge of her flight. This is when I was like, bro, like, are you. Whatever. Anyway, we just got off of that topic, so I'm gonna move on. And then he. She also tells her, like, Zaden, just because he doesn't want you dead doesn't mean that there's other ways for him to ruin you and your mom's reputation. So, like, basically, he's still going to use you for revenge, even if it doesn't mean killing you. And that he has higher clearance than Zaden because of his powers. And so he knows more. Even though he's technically under him, he knows more than him. And so she should trust him more than she trusts Zeta, which, again, I'm just. You have not given her any reason to trust you in these last couple months. Like, zero. Nothing. [00:12:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Fuck off, Dane. [00:12:37] Speaker A: Yeah. Then we get to the fight with Jack and basically almost kills her. And he uses his powers, which he's not supposed to use, to kill her. She gets a couple good, like, swipes in, but for the most part, he's going to kill her. When the fight started, she allowed Liam to go get Zaden, so he's technically gone. But the teacher and one of her other flight cadets, Riddick, is trying to get Jack off her once he starts using his powers. But then she takes a vial from her person and slams it into his mouth, breaking his tooth. And then he starts to choke because apparently he's allergic to oranges and she gave him orange juice or something. I don't know. And then she wakes up in the infirmary and Zaden is there waiting for her. [00:13:30] Speaker B: Waiting for her at her bedside. [00:13:33] Speaker A: So sweet. [00:13:34] Speaker B: So sweet. [00:13:39] Speaker A: And I'm like, wow, she's just always thinking, isn't she? She's just such a thinker. And then because they didn't say his outcome in the last chapter, I was like, is he dead? I feel like she wouldn't try to kill him, but did he just die? Did they try to get him help? Would they try to get him help? He's kind of a dick, so maybe they didn't try to get him help. [00:13:59] Speaker B: I definitely wouldn't try to get him help. [00:14:01] Speaker A: Right. And so I was like, maybe they just left him there. But as they were dealing with her, you know, did he die? Was. Is he that allergic to oranges that he could die? [00:14:10] Speaker B: Was he deadly allergic? [00:14:13] Speaker A: Like, I just. My question. And then I was like, I'm glad that Dane says he's going to try and work with her instead of against her because she says, like, you need to respect my decisions and just let it go, basically. And he's like, yeah, I can try. And this is when I was like, hey, at least try. I'm going to see if you try. And then I was thinking that the threat might be from an outside source, like outside the kingdom and it's trying to attack them. Now I'm like, I think it is just an insight source, like there's something in the kingdom that's wrong and that's what she's going to uncover. Because I just haven't heard enough about any outside sources that would do anything for it to make sense to me that it would be an outside source at this point in time. [00:14:58] Speaker B: Yeah. Which makes sense because at this point in time you don't know. [00:15:02] Speaker A: Right. But I did say whatever the inside source is, Dane and Jack are going to be on the same side if Jack is still alive. Implying that I believe that Dane will be on the wrong side. [00:15:18] Speaker B: You know, I actually don't think they reveal that until the second book. What side Dane or Jack are on. [00:15:26] Speaker A: Yeah, they didn't really. Well, it doesn't matter about Jack because Jack is dead. [00:15:31] Speaker B: Dun dun, dun dun dun. Anywho, so we kill off Jack. Well, not yet. [00:15:39] Speaker A: She didn't kill off Jack yet. Dang it. She just poisoned him. [00:15:43] Speaker B: So Jack's alive, Jack's alive for now. [00:15:46] Speaker A: And then because Aiden is in her room, she brings up the kiss and he's like, we really shouldn't be getting involved together, even if it's just physically. But I am going to take over all of your training, just everything that you do. You're not doing any training with anybody else. I'm gonna do Everything with you. [00:16:04] Speaker B: Because obviously you need help. [00:16:07] Speaker A: Yeah. But also, we're not gonna get involved. I'm just gonna be with you every trainer minute of the day. [00:16:14] Speaker B: I'm your trainer. [00:16:15] Speaker A: I'm just your trainer. Okay. Get it through your head. [00:16:20] Speaker B: Stop looking at me with those eyes. [00:16:23] Speaker A: He's like, I'm just your trainer. And then immediately takes her to the training room, makes her take off all of her daggers, and then shows her how exactly to kill him, how dominant he is. Daggers. [00:16:37] Speaker B: And gives her a new get on top. [00:16:41] Speaker A: Exactly. This chapter doesn't really do anything. It's just basically them talking a lot. And then at the end, Zaden takes Violet from Dane as they're doing a class because he wants her to do more flying. And while they're on their way to go see their dragons, they bump into Violet's mother and Dane's father. And this is when Xaden learns that Violet and her mother don't actually have a relationship at all. They don't have a good relationship, if they even do have a relationship. But she, her mother had told her in the beginning of this book, I'm not going to speak to you for a couple months. So does that even. Is that even a relationship? [00:17:22] Speaker B: I wouldn't say that's a relationship. Just saying. [00:17:26] Speaker A: Yeah. And then again, because I thought it was an inside thing, I was like, I also feel like her mom's on the wrong side. But eventually, through these books, we'll get on the right side with her daughter. [00:17:39] Speaker B: That's your theory? [00:17:40] Speaker A: That's my theory. [00:17:41] Speaker B: At some point, they'll get on the good side. It's a good theory. I can't tell you. Because you don't know the answer to that one yet. [00:17:52] Speaker A: I don't know the answer to that one yet. Although with what happens at the end of this book, it is making my theory seem more plausible in my head. [00:18:00] Speaker B: Right. This is me not responding. I'm just going to start doing that now. [00:18:11] Speaker A: Okay. Oh, my gosh. [00:18:12] Speaker B: When I know the answer, I'm just going to say, this is me not responding. We're on chapter 25. So we're in the middle of the squad battle. They're in third place already because William Liam won his fight. And now they have another challenge. [00:18:27] Speaker A: It's. [00:18:27] Speaker B: It's tonight with the superior officers. They have three hours and Imagin's the leader. They need information, some way to get it. And Violet comes up with the idea of breaking into her mom's office. They do it. They find the information and they use it at their squad battle. And then in chapter 26, they win their squad battle and they get to go to an outpost by the front. Re tells her that it's just in less than an hour from where she grew up, where her sister and nephew are. Dane's a jerk. This whole chapter, we get to finally have, like, a good meeting with Mira rather than that, like, first initial beginning of the book conversation we had. THEY CRY Unite sisters. I love it. We love our sisters. [00:19:20] Speaker A: We do love our sisters. It was good to see her. You're right. It was the first, like, substantial amount that we got to be with her. [00:19:28] Speaker B: And she gets to see what's going on with Dane. And then she actually meets Zaden. And she sees with everything that's happening with Zaden as well, yeah, she's like, there's something up. [00:19:40] Speaker A: There's something up. [00:19:41] Speaker B: After 27, we're having good sisterly bonding. Mira gives them a training exercise. And this is when we realize Dane wants to be the leader because he went there as the squad leader. But since Xaden is the wing leader, he is actually in charge. But Xaden is, like, insistent. Please don't put me in charge. I shouldn't be here. I'm only here because of our dragons. And Xaden starts to speak in Violet's head because their dragons are mated and she hasn't been able to figure out how to do it back. Dane's mad because when is he not? They go through the hypothetical training, and Taryn tells her that she needs to find a path to Xaden. Once the exercise is over, Mira calls the three of them into the stairway. She's mad at Dane, tells him to get his shit together. [00:20:39] Speaker A: He leaves. [00:20:40] Speaker B: And then Mira tells Violet and Zaden that they need to learn how to be separated for longer and their dragons are gonna have to fucking figure it out. [00:20:50] Speaker A: But yeah, three days isn't a long time. [00:20:53] Speaker B: Three days is not a long time. But three days without my husband seems like eternity. So especially when I can't make a meal for myself. [00:21:05] Speaker A: Oh, my God. Damn. When needs to get back. [00:21:10] Speaker B: But before we go further into the conversation, there's, like, an announcement that Griffins are on the way. The rest of the squad has to get out, but Violate doesn't want to leave. She pleads and pleads with Zaden to let her stay and help, and he says, absolutely not. You can't even stand your dragon. But he promises her sister to get her out, so obviously she needs to go. He kisses her, stalls her enough for the dragons. To show up. She says she hates him, but she's gone, so who cares? Yeah, it worked out. [00:21:50] Speaker A: She's like, she hates him. I was like, no, she doesn't hate him. She's saying that in the moment, but she doesn't hate him. There's no way. [00:21:57] Speaker B: No, she knew she couldn't fight. [00:22:00] Speaker A: Yeah, she's not ready for that. [00:22:04] Speaker B: So apparently, according to your notes, this is a turning point for Dane and that you love Mira. [00:22:11] Speaker A: I said, maybe this is a turning point for Dane. I was like, if he doesn't get his together after this, after somebody literally calls him out like that, then I don't know what to tell you. This is when he was at the highest point for me. Negative or attitude right here. This is it. He's like. [00:22:26] Speaker B: You were like, okay, he can be a good guy. [00:22:28] Speaker A: He can be a good guy. [00:22:30] Speaker B: He could make it. And then chapter 28, Satan finds her in front of the archives. She obviously already doesn't hate him. [00:22:40] Speaker A: Oh, but this is also where I made her prediction that within the next three chapters, they're going to kiss again. [00:22:46] Speaker B: Ooh, let's see. Oh, I read ahead. Spoiler alert. It comes a chapter early. [00:22:56] Speaker A: Yeah, it does come a chapter early. And then I was like, damn, they're not even just gonna kiss. They're gonna. [00:23:03] Speaker B: So we're still in chapter eight. [00:23:06] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:07] Speaker B: Xaden tells her that he hasn't slept well in six years since his father's died. He tells her he can't stop thinking about her. She finds a way to actually finally figure out how to talk back to her. Dane shows up. Her professor tells her that no riders were lost in the battle, meaning Meera is alive. Her sister's fine. Dane catches her. She collapses. But as soon as she can get out of his arm, she is. And then she leaves to see Ardana cry. She starts asking Xaden more questions to find out more about him. She asks about the scars on his back. He doesn't want to talk about it. Taryn tells her to lay off because Zaden obviously cares about her. And now it's war game time. Violet feels like everyone is keeping things from her, even Taryn. Will her power. Will her powers manifest during the game? [00:23:59] Speaker A: My thought. [00:24:00] Speaker B: I know. She being grave peril or. Or someone she loves in grave peril. Fourth wing is on offense and defense. They're playing cats. [00:24:13] Speaker A: Reading it like this. [00:24:18] Speaker B: I'm just reading it, babes. Taryn and Zaden had a saddle made. This is a very good turning point. When the saddle is made. And finally she can stay on fucking the dragon without him having to use some power to keep him on. [00:24:34] Speaker A: Thank God. Thank God they figured it out because it was getting gone. [00:24:38] Speaker B: And it's an actual long times, long term solution, too, which is useful. So doesn't Dane hate it? Pretty sure Dane, like, flips his shit about it. [00:24:53] Speaker A: No, this is one of the. Okay, this is. This is actually his highest point because this is one of the few times where they thought that he was going to say something and he's like, why would I say anything? My biggest issue is how she's not safe. So this makes her safe. I'm good with it. And I was like, dane, have you thought about your actions and have you changed? [00:25:11] Speaker B: Dane, are you going to be a good boy? [00:25:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:16] Speaker B: Do I secretly love you? [00:25:18] Speaker A: God, no. [00:25:21] Speaker B: Who knows? You haven't read the second book yet. [00:25:24] Speaker A: True. That's true. [00:25:27] Speaker B: Zaden tells her that he wants her to kiss her, but it's two chapters too soon. There's too many people around. Violet thanks him for the gift and they set off. She thinks her powers might be able to heat to eat her up in the middle of the games. [00:25:43] Speaker A: I don't know how to say. Okay, look, I'm making these. I'm not doing anything. These are just my notes that she was thinking that whatever the. Because if you can't channel your signet power, then you're gonna die. Like, it burns you up from inside. [00:25:56] Speaker B: Oh, right. [00:25:58] Speaker A: So she thought that that was what was happening. It wasn't her powers manifesting. She thought she was literally going to die because she hasn't been able to manifest her powers. [00:26:06] Speaker B: Right. Okay, that makes sense. Jack stabs Liam. She uses Ardana to starp time to starve time and save Liam, who's falling. She finally manifests her power. She can wield lightning. She kills Jack. And now we're at the end of that chapter. You're thinking, is this power rare? [00:26:28] Speaker A: And it's like, how rare is this power? Because we haven't really heard about it, but we also haven't not heard about it. You know what I mean? [00:26:35] Speaker B: Right? [00:26:36] Speaker A: And I feel like they just tell you when somebody has one. So I'm like, is this going to be a rare power? I'm assuming it's going to be a rare power. But how rare? [00:26:43] Speaker B: How rare and how useful. [00:26:45] Speaker A: Right? [00:26:46] Speaker B: Right. That's always the most important question is, how useful is an ability? I don't care how rare it is. What is it gonna get done for? This plot line. [00:26:56] Speaker A: That's true. And then I also Was like, well, how is she gonna deal with Jack's death? He's not the worst first person to kill, if we're gonna be honest here. Yeah, but it is. It's probably gonna be hard for her because she has made it a point to not kill people. [00:27:17] Speaker B: But who cares? Because she's a lightning wielder, and no one's been a lightning wielder in a century. She might feel bad, but Dane tells her she doesn't even need to use the power if she doesn't want to. Zaden, however, is like, that's a fat lie. You're gonna have to use that one. Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're gonna be the weapon. Not just a weapon. Sorry, babes. [00:27:45] Speaker A: Sorry, babes. And he's like, dane, you know better. You have higher clearance than me. You know better than to say this. [00:27:52] Speaker B: Yep. So then, you know, at the very end of chapter 39, we get a little kiss. Just kiss. And what happens, Kristen, after that? [00:28:02] Speaker A: They. He tries to push her away, and it's like, this isn't really what you want. He's like, she's. Yes. Yes, it is. [00:28:11] Speaker B: Obviously, this is exactly what I want. And we're gonna have sex right here, right now. My wardrobe. [00:28:18] Speaker A: Her wardrobe. Like a chair, A bunch of things. [00:28:24] Speaker B: And then after that, whatever they can. [00:28:28] Speaker A: Yeah. And there's lots of lightning and thunder. [00:28:33] Speaker B: This is another chapter where Rebecca comes back, and she said you guys were getting tired of them fighting. Me, too. Let's settle for some. [00:28:44] Speaker A: Yes. Thank God. [00:28:47] Speaker B: Thank God. [00:28:50] Speaker A: Afterwards, they have some pillow talk. And this is when we find out that the scars that he has on his back are. There are 107 of them. And it's all for the children of the people who were in rebellion, which is rude. And he made the deal to get all of them in the writer's quadrant instead of just killing them all flat out. And so if any one of them turns out to be a traitor, he would have to die with them as well, because he put his entire life on the line for these people, which is why everyone is so thankful and attached to him. Like Liam, like Imogen, like, literally everybody. Because he. [00:29:29] Speaker B: They owe him. Yeah. They owe him their life. [00:29:32] Speaker A: Their life. [00:29:33] Speaker B: Yep. Go, Zaden. He's a great guy, really. [00:29:36] Speaker A: And while this is happening, after they. Or before they. He's like, don't fall for me. And she's like, only use me for my body. Yeah, basically. But afterwards, she asked him to stay the night, and he does. [00:29:54] Speaker B: He's like, good. Duh. Obviously, I'm gonna do that. I'm not a hit it and quit it kind of guy. [00:30:00] Speaker A: Right. And he says that he suspected from the first time they kissed that she was a lightning wielder because of all the thunder that happened the first time. [00:30:11] Speaker B: They kissed because he got that electricity between them. [00:30:16] Speaker A: And then the next day, she goes with Professor Carr the first time up on a mountain somewhere so that she can wield her lightning in a nice space where nobody is going to get hurt. She can do it pretty well, but it tires her very fast. And also, this is when Zaden shows her a memory of them having sex so that she's horny and is able to do it for the first time when she's up there. And then she's able to wield it after that. [00:30:45] Speaker B: This is when we start getting some freaky shit. [00:30:48] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:30:48] Speaker B: He said, remember me. [00:30:51] Speaker A: My thoughts at the end of this chapter is I think they're going to be a thing for a second, and then something will happen by the end of the book that will make them keep their distance again. And then I just asked a question. Will the things that Carr says about balance come into play later? And I feel like, yes, they do. Anyway, then that day, Zaden is at her door and they're kind of surveying the damage that is her room. And basically the only thing they didn't damage was her bed, because they never made it to the bed. They're just fucking on various surfaces. [00:31:22] Speaker B: Yeah. So she can still have a good night's rest. Kristen, very important. He cares about her health. [00:31:30] Speaker A: Yes, he does. She asks him a couple more personal questions because she's been trying to get to know him. And then she finds a note from her dad because Mira just gave her back the book of fables when she saw her the last time. And so she found a note from her dad in that book. And it's about how someone. In my opinion, it sounds like somebody changed the history in the archives somewhere. Like, the gist of the note was that somebody changed the history. But it's very cryptic and she doesn't understand what it means yet. But it's the folklore children's book, the one that's about, like, the Vivin and the Weirin and everything. And Zaden wants to have sex again. And she's like, oh, well, last night you actually told me not to fall for you. And I already have emotions in this. So we're going to actually have to put a pause on that. And until I'm ready to emotionally. Yeah. And be committed. Yeah. We're not going to do that. [00:32:31] Speaker B: And Zaden said, valid. [00:32:34] Speaker A: He did say valid, because he was like, yeah, I don't want you to fall for me. That you can't. We can just have sex, basically, is what he's saying. And she's like, you are a fucking liar, and I'm not gonna have sex with you until you admit that, basically. Also, this is when we find out that King is coming for reunification Day. She is still learning she can do about 20 strikes in an hour now. They're basically just sexing in their head all day long. Yeah, that's what they're doing, back and forth. Is this part of the book? They're just horny for each other, even though they're not giving into anything. [00:33:07] Speaker B: We just gotta tease it a bit, you know, since we're not doing it. [00:33:11] Speaker A: It's 10 days before graduation, and then Zaden will be getting his assignment. And they're still not entirely sure what's going to happen when he's gone and how that'll work with the Dragons. It's also been six years since Brennan died. She's freaking out and asking Xaden to fuck her again. And he's like, we shouldn't be thinking about this now. We're literally in the middle of a meeting, a battle strategy meeting with everybody. Maybe, like, calm down just a little bit. [00:33:39] Speaker B: Maybe pay attention. You ever thought of that? [00:33:45] Speaker A: And then she asked if there's somebody else because she thinks that him and Imogen are a thing for some reason. [00:33:51] Speaker B: Oh. [00:33:51] Speaker A: And then they end up solving whatever the problem is in the boardroom together for some reason, because they're just that connected. They're just that good. [00:34:00] Speaker B: They're just that connected. [00:34:03] Speaker A: Then they're at the reunification party. Liam seems to be the only marked person there, and it's for her protection. King Kamri and her mom are walking together and introducing people. They go up to Violet and Liam, and Liam is basically having to save face and just be like, oh, you're so wonderful. We love you. Thank you so much for giving me two random people and tearing me from my family. [00:34:31] Speaker B: This is so amazing. [00:34:33] Speaker A: And the King asked where Zaden and all the other marked ones were because he wanted to see all of them. And it doesn't really seem like anybody is there. And Violet defends. Aiden is like, oh, yeah, I saw him around the corner. He's not really much on parties, and he sticks to the shadows, so I don't know if you're gonna see him today. And basically, it's like, he. He saved my Life. He did this, he did that. And her mom is like, their dragons are mated. That's why she knows so much about him. It's not weird or anything. [00:35:09] Speaker B: Please walk away. [00:35:11] Speaker A: Basically. And when they leave, Liam is like, zeta would never force me to come here just to defend you, but I go wherever you go, so I came here to defend you because the perfect time to. [00:35:28] Speaker B: What a great bodyguard. We love Liam. Liam. Stan. [00:35:34] Speaker A: I am a Liam. Stan. I'm so upset. [00:35:38] Speaker B: Stop. [00:35:42] Speaker A: Then, see, this is when another Dane comes through. He goes up to them and is like, hey, is she planning on leaving yet? And William's like, no, she hasn't tried to leave just yet, but the night is young. And then he's like, well, around the corner. You can just go up the stairway like nobody's looking. And so then they leave. And I was like, the Dane, like, you are at a two. This is my two point. I was like, you're a two out of ten right now. [00:36:04] Speaker B: What? [00:36:04] Speaker A: You keep. [00:36:05] Speaker B: You keep defending Dane to me. I think you're a little bit of a Dane, Stan. You keep defending him. [00:36:13] Speaker A: No, you seem to think that he didn't have a high point. And I'm saying this is his high point. He just hasn't. [00:36:19] Speaker B: I don't even think this is his high point. I think this is his at bare minimum point. [00:36:24] Speaker A: That's why he's a two. [00:36:26] Speaker B: Expectations. [00:36:28] Speaker A: My expectation for Dane is a two. Okay, Mine's zero. [00:36:33] Speaker B: Babes, you gotta get on my level. [00:36:37] Speaker A: Then she just knows that something's wrong with Zaden because this is also the six year anniversary of his dad dying. And it turns out he's on the parapet. And so she goes out there and she walks onto the parapet in her slippers and her ball gown and. [00:36:54] Speaker B: Beautiful imagery. That's what that scene's for. Just beautiful imagery. And it is really well written. [00:37:01] Speaker A: It is. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not at a. I'm not at a two. I'm at a one out of ten. My notes actually say one out of ten. [00:37:10] Speaker B: Oh, Dane took a point. He took a whole point between then and now. [00:37:16] Speaker A: I know we're like, actually, he's not. [00:37:18] Speaker B: That bad a guy. You learned what he did at the end of the book. Thought it over for a while and now we're like, okay, it's. It's. We'll give him some credit after nearest. [00:37:34] Speaker A: Chapter, he was at a negative two. And then I was like, right now he's at a one. [00:37:37] Speaker B: Brutal. [00:37:37] Speaker A: So that's where I was at before that he was at a negative 50. So he really did. This is his high point. If one is his high point, then one is his high point, I guess. And I also said, wow, they love each other. And then I said, don't like the king. He's a bitch. He's in the middle of the parapet and she just is looking at him and is like, I want to take care of him so bad. And he's mourning alone and he's all sad. And as soon as she realizes all of this, she's like, oh my God, I'm in love with him. And he jumps up as soon as he sees her, runs to her and she's basically like, please don't deny your feelings anymore. I love you and we're going to be honest with each other and blah, blah, blah, blah. And they get off the parapet and they go to his room and she tells him that she loves him. [00:38:37] Speaker B: Bow chicka wow wow. [00:38:40] Speaker A: He says he has given her everything he has to give. He doesn't say he loves her back. Which, I mean, that basically is I love you. I don't know. [00:38:51] Speaker B: I mean, depends on who you are. [00:38:53] Speaker A: For example, they have a lot of sex. Yeah, for me, marathon sex. A lot of sex. They have sex a lot. [00:39:01] Speaker B: And then good montage of sex they're about to have. [00:39:04] Speaker A: It's just that night, though, and they're about to have sex again, or they're in the middle of sex again when Garak knocks on the door and says there's an attack against them. And I said, who was attacking them? Is someone trying to kill Xaden? And they hope that. Oh, I put this is my theory. For a second I was like, is somebody trying to kill Xaden? And they just hope that Seagull won't die so that like, it won't actually do the dominoes in reverse to get her to be killed. Does that make sense? Yeah, because they're so sure that if Violet dies because she. Because Taryn is so connected to her and because every dragon bond is a stronger one than the last one because the last one almost killed Taran, they're pretty sure that this one would kill Taran if she dies. And that's why everybody would domino into Xaden also dying. But I'm like, does the domino happen in reverse? I guess it's true. Does somebody think the domino won't happen in reverse and is trying to kill Xaden and still get both dragons? Basically. That's a good point, Violet. So that was my theory. And I said the King or will we find out more about what's happening with the Griffins? So that was my theory. [00:40:17] Speaker B: I like it. And this is when I don't respond. [00:40:23] Speaker A: Okay. So they get dressed and go into formation. She's wearing his jacket and the entire time Rhiannon is like leaning on her so that Dane doesn't see see that it's his jacket because it has like all his insidia patches on it. And it turns out it's just war games. This is just an exercise again. [00:40:42] Speaker B: Yeah, the. [00:40:46] Speaker A: It'S a five day exercise and they have to go to the outpost that Xaden once told her that they were he came back from that was a secret place that she wasn't supposed to know about. And they just so happen in this war game to be going to that same outpost. They pack to leave and she's supposed to go with Dane but at the last second Satan's like hey, you have to come with me to that random outpost because this is going to be five days and our dragon's going to be separated three days. So you have to come with me. And Dane's like you're going to get her killed. But Dane always says that. So it's not really like a red flag at the moment. And that's true. And then Xaden is like, you know that it's because it's beyond the wards is where they're going. And he's like, you know that it's safer for her beyond the wards than it is inside the wards. Which was very cryptic. [00:41:39] Speaker B: And then, and then Dane continues to be a bitch. [00:41:44] Speaker A: Yeah. And this is when Dane finds out that they are fucking because she's like hey, if you say you need me to go then I'm going to go. It's not, I'm not going to sit here and wait while everybody argues. And Dane realizes they're together and I'm. [00:41:57] Speaker B: Like well oh well dude, deal with it. Yeah, deal with it. [00:42:04] Speaker A: I don't know what else gives a. [00:42:06] Speaker B: Fuck about your ass. [00:42:09] Speaker A: He's arguing. He doesn't get his way. Per usual. It's hard for dragons to communicate outside the words where you talk. Relearn. They stopped to get water just outside the outpost, like 20 miles outside because they don't know what they're be flying into. Liam also goes with them. They're with eight other cadets and he's holding her hand and he's acting all lovey dovey and he's doing all this stuff and she's like there's everybody's Right there. And he's like, these people I trust with my life. These people are my family. Basically. Like I nobody. I don't care if anybody be any of these people. Know that I'm with you. Like, I. It doesn't matter because they're so trustworthy. [00:42:51] Speaker B: And we already know that they trust Xaden as well with their lives. So they obviously aren't going to betray him. [00:42:59] Speaker A: And they kiss. He says he's going to keep her, and she's like, that's fine as long as I can keep you. Or no, he. You're mine. Oh, that's fine as long as you're mine too. Or whatever. [00:43:14] Speaker B: Or whatever. God, get up already. [00:43:19] Speaker A: Suddenly, then suddenly a pair of Griffin writers come in. And one of them seems to know Zaden. He says that in, like, his head, trust me. If there's a time where you trust me, please trust me now. And then they say, like, oh, you're early. And that's the end of the chapter. And I said, so are we finally going to figure out the other side? Her side has been lying, obviously. But about what? That they changed the histories. Question mark. There's a problem, and it's not about the shipment. And then we find out that Benin are real. That's the threat to both kingdoms that her kingdom has been ignoring. So it's not so much as like a corrupt institution. I mean, technically, I guess it is a corrupt institution, but it wasn't like a total. I don't know, I thought it was going to be something like they're the. [00:44:15] Speaker B: Like, murderers and stuff. Yeah, yeah, but it's just like we're ignoring a problem. [00:44:20] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, I thought. Yes. But anyway, I mean, it's fine. That's fine. It doesn't need to be that. But I was just like, oh, okay. It's not them being like, terrible people. It's just them being bad. Yeah. Like, these are. They're evil. I guess they're being a nation. That's exactly what a nation they're being. [00:44:46] Speaker B: The United States. Yeah. [00:44:48] Speaker A: I'm like, ooh. Like, ooh. So they say that the Venin don't normally come this far north. And the fires only came to warn them that the Venin are coming to the. Like, basically through the outpost that they're about to fly to. They see Violet and they kind of want Violet. And they're like, hey, we would get all the weapons that we want if we had the general's daughter. And Zane is like, back off. She's mine. You don't touch her. And this is when she finds out that everyone knows about this. These are all marked writers that are with him. Even Taryn and Darna know. And she realizes that everyone knew that Zaden was helping the Griffin flyers get weapons. [00:45:41] Speaker B: Yeah. And she takes it pretty personally. [00:45:44] Speaker A: She does. [00:45:45] Speaker B: You. You've been lying to me. [00:45:48] Speaker A: Yeah, she's. I said she's spiraling. She's mad. Zaden makes everyone else leave, and he tries to explain to her what's happening, that they gave him weapons. Fight the Venon. There's a special ore that is used to create the wards, and that's what is needed to fight the Venin, which is why the kingdom doesn't want to use their ward stuff to fight the Venin. Like, it's just one of those things. [00:46:16] Speaker B: It's just one of those things. [00:46:18] Speaker A: Leadership would rather have the power of the wards than to actually try to find and kill all the Venin because it just seems like it would be a lot of work to do that. So they're just gonna not. [00:46:28] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, valid. [00:46:30] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:46:31] Speaker B: It's a lazy route, and it's murdering people who are outside the wards, but it's valid. [00:46:37] Speaker A: Tomato, tomato. [00:46:40] Speaker B: You either kill the villain or you live long enough to see yourself become one. [00:46:46] Speaker A: Yeah. You're like, I have to think about my people. Okay. I have to think about my people. [00:46:51] Speaker B: That live here, and I'm lazy. We're all fine. [00:46:57] Speaker A: So then I said, so they're attacking because they're looking for the material used to power the wards, and then they make it into weapons to attack the Benin. Like, okay, so that's a very clear, linear process here. Okay, that makes sense. Because they kept saying that they weren't sure what they were looking for. They just kept looking in, like, systematically going through houses to find things. But it's like, you guys probably do know what they're looking for. [00:47:24] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:47:28] Speaker A: He shows her a dagger that's made out of it, and she's like, that's my mom. And he's like, no, your mom knows about this. Obviously, she would have a dagger like this to be able to kill one of them. And he says that he never lied. He just hid the truth. [00:47:44] Speaker B: Okay. Lying is also considered a miss omission of truth. Okay, let's just start there. If you didn't tell me you were lying. [00:47:56] Speaker A: There are varying degrees of that, but I, for the most part, agree. [00:48:01] Speaker B: I can get into a long, heated debate about this. [00:48:07] Speaker A: His father died to try and help the people on the borders who kept getting eaten and destroyed by Venin. So that's why they tried to overthrow the government when they realized that the government wasn't going to do anything. She believes Dane about all of this. Like after her father's note, she's like, oh, like they. They did do something. Because I think this is real. This is obviously a threat. And he gives her the dagger so that she'll have something to protect herself. She also says that she doesn't love him anymore, but she doesn't trust him. [00:48:38] Speaker B: She. She doesn't love him and she doesn't trust him. [00:48:41] Speaker A: Yeah, she believes him, but she doesn't trust him. [00:48:46] Speaker B: Rough. [00:48:48] Speaker A: Then she argues with Taryn and Ardana on the way to the outpost because she's like, what the fuck? Nobody told me anything. You guys. Really? Nobody was going to tell me anything? Nobody? Not one of you? [00:48:58] Speaker B: Honestly, if anyone should have, it should have been Tarn. Okay, let's get it together, dude. [00:49:03] Speaker A: She's mad at Liam because she's like, you were lying to me this whole time too. And then she realizes that the archives only go out back 400 years instead of the 600 for when their they. Their kingdom was made. So the only thing that's from the 600 years is from the first unification papers. So they obviously decided what they were going to take out of the histories and then build a new generation to just learn what the other generations wanted them to rather than have it be the true history. [00:49:40] Speaker B: Side tangent for fantasy novel. 600 year old nation is not so young. [00:49:46] Speaker A: I was thinking that exact same thing. So young. I was like, that's really young. [00:49:52] Speaker B: Crazy, isn't that? [00:49:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:49:54] Speaker B: Like, I don't know a single fantasy novel that has like that young of a country. But then you compare it to like normal life and it's like, how old is the us? [00:50:05] Speaker A: Yeah, we're only like two something. [00:50:09] Speaker B: Exactly. We're babies. Babies, babies. [00:50:13] Speaker A: Then they see that the outpost is empty and they realize that they don't think this is the war games. They find a note. And the note basically says they have a choice to either help the people that are kind of by the outpost survive a Venin attack, or go to a new outpost and actually go to war games and just these people to die. They also realize that Dane has probably been reading her memories this whole time. [00:50:42] Speaker B: Because Dane is a bitch. [00:50:45] Speaker A: Because Dane is a bitch. [00:50:46] Speaker B: Did you put a little note there saying, hey, Dane's now a negative 20? [00:50:50] Speaker A: It does say negative 10. [00:50:53] Speaker B: I knew it. Dane. Stan. You're a Dane. Stan. [00:50:58] Speaker A: Secretly I was like, there has to be a Lot of people in leadership who know about this. And then I said, okay, so it's both an outside and an inside threat. [00:51:07] Speaker B: Right. And her mom didn't know about it. Right. Because she very last second got thrown in with Zaden. [00:51:15] Speaker A: Right. Her mom at least didn't know that she was going to go to the outpost. [00:51:20] Speaker B: No, Exactly. [00:51:22] Speaker A: Even Dane was like, I don't want you to go. Please choose me. [00:51:26] Speaker B: Choose me. [00:51:28] Speaker A: So right now there's only four Benin that they see. And some Griffin flyers come to tell them to leave because there's really nothing they can do. Because 2 venin were here the last time, and it basically took out an entire town. And so they're just praying to their gods because they think they're gonna die. And so she's like, get out while you can. Leave to whatever else you need to leave to, because these people are dead, basically. But Xaden says that he's staying, but he doesn't require anybody else to stay with him. And everyone decides to stay and fight. Even obviously Violet. [00:52:03] Speaker B: Because this scene is what makes it clear who the good guy is and who the bad guys are. [00:52:08] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:52:09] Speaker B: Establishing our plotline for the rest of the books. [00:52:13] Speaker A: Exactly. Because this entire time, even in the last chapter, he's like, some people can think of me as a villain, some people think of me as a hero. Like, it's not for me to decide. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. [00:52:25] Speaker B: But it's like, that's not for me to decide. You know where that's from? Yeah, I think about that all the time. Little dicky pillow talk. In case you're wondering. Sorry, I forgot we had listeners. [00:52:39] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. I. I think often about how often we would listen to him on that drive. [00:52:48] Speaker B: It was so you could learn the song. And I would say we were successful. [00:52:53] Speaker A: Okay, so the goal is just save as many people as you can. They see Revan right before they fly off. Because the Venin can control the Revan that come. So they don't have the air because they also have air people in there. Zaden gives her a second dagger. This is when we learn that the general who can see the outcome of battles can't see Xaden because of the rebellion relics that they have on. For some reason that whenever there's more than three people with rebellion relics, it makes him unable to see the outcome of anything. [00:53:34] Speaker B: Which is why it's outlawed for them to gather in more than threes. [00:53:39] Speaker A: Exactly. And this is also why Zaden realized that the bans were a blessing and not a curse. Because they can really fuck some shit up with that. Also, we learned that griffins and dragons can talk to each other if they. [00:53:57] Speaker B: Want to, which is weird. I don't understand that plot. But you know what? You do. You boo. You do. You. Rebecca. [00:54:04] Speaker A: Okay, she's really bad at aiming when she does her lightning, but she's trying to do it anyway. [00:54:09] Speaker B: I thought you were talking about Rebecca for half a second there. He said, dunk matter. [00:54:16] Speaker A: Violet is bad at aiming her lightning, but she's trying to take out these Revan and the Venin. Also, Venin can push a wave of death and it desecrates anyone in its path, which crazy. Yeah. Very, very scary. [00:54:34] Speaker B: Powerful. Crazy powerful. [00:54:36] Speaker A: She is able to heal one Revan with lightning, but Liam gets hurt while defending Violet. And Liam's dragon D dies, and Liam asks her to take care of his sister when as he's dying because his sister is coming to conscript next year. And they try to get him to his dragon, and they didn't manage to evacuate the village, and they kill the one that killed Dee, but there's another one that comes from the left. And then that's how the chapter cuts off because they do manage to, like, get them both over there and we die. [00:55:13] Speaker B: Cry. [00:55:13] Speaker A: We all cry. [00:55:15] Speaker B: Did you cry? [00:55:16] Speaker A: I did cry a little bit. I had a tear. [00:55:19] Speaker B: You did? [00:55:20] Speaker A: I had a tear, yeah. [00:55:22] Speaker B: I love that for you. I wish I cried. I am not an emotional reader, unfortunately. I'm a giddy reader. I will scream and kick my feet and get butterflies, but I will not actually cry while reading a book. It's never happened, really. [00:55:36] Speaker A: I. I'm an emotional reader. I will do everything that you just said. [00:55:40] Speaker B: Did he kick your feet but also sob? [00:55:43] Speaker A: Yeah. Unfortunately, emotions get to me very easily. I am not in touch with my own emotions, but if somebody presents emotions at me, I feel the need to manifest that retweet. [00:55:59] Speaker B: I'm on that same boat. Don't come near me in person, though. [00:56:08] Speaker A: My thoughts are, will she kill everyone? Will she get captured? How many other people will die? Because I honestly was not expecting Liam to die. I know that at the end of the last recording that we had, I said, I don't think anyone's safe, but I was expecting him to at least make it to book two. [00:56:27] Speaker B: Oh, Rebecca got you there. [00:56:29] Speaker A: Especially because I basically just got to know him in the beginning of this section of the book. So I was like. We had a full first section where we didn't really know him. I'm barely getting to know him now. I Feel like I. I thought I was gonna just get to know him a little bit more, but no. No. [00:56:43] Speaker B: She just wants to break your heart. That's her only goal. It's okay, Rebecca. I still love you. Just so you know. [00:56:52] Speaker A: So, chapter 37. There is a Bevan on Taryn's back, and she gets out of her saddle and is going to fight her. She gets a broken arm and stabbed in the stomach with probably poison. Zaden gives her darkness, and she's able to stab and kill the Venon. All of the Weirin fall when the Venin. Who made them die. [00:57:17] Speaker B: Weirin wyverns. [00:57:20] Speaker A: Reverend I don't know. [00:57:22] Speaker B: Wyvern. [00:57:23] Speaker A: Wyvern. I don't know. I read it. I don't pronounce it. [00:57:27] Speaker B: Pretty sure it's Wyvern. It's definitely not what you're saying, though. [00:57:32] Speaker A: I've said it for the last three chapters, so I don't know how you're just picking up on it. [00:57:37] Speaker B: I was not registering, but okay. [00:57:42] Speaker A: Valid. Violet goes after the Ben and riders, and there's only two left. She channels both Taryn and Ardana, and she kills one and Xaden is able to kill the second one. And then she falls off Taryn's back. [00:58:01] Speaker B: Yep. [00:58:03] Speaker A: Bye bye. [00:58:03] Speaker B: Violence. [00:58:04] Speaker A: And I said, I mean, absolutely. She lives. And they seem to have mostly escaped, but we'll see. She's falling and Ardana stops tine again. And then Ardana catches her, but because she can't really hold her because she's still a baby, they kind of just like, go to the ground. [00:58:23] Speaker B: They fall together. Kind of. [00:58:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:58:25] Speaker B: It's a controlled fall. [00:58:26] Speaker A: Right. [00:58:27] Speaker B: I've done that. [00:58:29] Speaker A: And then Zaden catches her and she falls to the ground. They think maybe it's not poison. Maybe it's magic. Her blood is black. She's kind of in and out. During this time, she hears Aiden saying that he knows a place to get her healed sooner and that he'll risk everything if he goes there again. Fading in and out. They're flying over the Kris of Dralor. So they're going even further beyond the wards. And they're at the place everyone is still saying this decision is a bad one. He's fallen for her. It's a familiar voice. And my thoughts are, I think this person will save her. But what is the big risk for everybody? What is the issue? I don't figure that out. I didn't. Figure what out? [00:59:22] Speaker B: The big risk. [00:59:24] Speaker A: I still don't understand what the big risk is. Oh, how can. Okay, let Me Just get through this last chapter and then we can talk about it. [00:59:31] Speaker B: No, go ahead. [00:59:33] Speaker A: Okay, so then this is Satan's point of view. It's been three days since Violet woke up. He's really going through it. He's thinking about everything that has happened up until this point. Basically, she wakes up, she's all smiles, she kisses him, but doesn't seem to remember. And then he's like. And then she remembers. It doesn't take her very long. Ardana has also grown a lot in this time. And they're saying that she can't stop time anymore because she's bigger. I don't think she's a feather tail anymore. [01:00:05] Speaker B: Right. She's no longer a baby. [01:00:09] Speaker A: Right now they're in Aridia. I don't know how you say it. [01:00:13] Speaker B: Couldn't tell you. [01:00:14] Speaker A: Aridia. Aridia, which is in the process of rebuilding. Because she's like, I know that this place was burned down. I saw the scrolls, I saw the histories. Like, what is this place? Oh, this is when we find out that Mal Green can't do see the outcome when there's more than three of them together. Liam is dead and they both blame themselves. She's still mad at him, and he tells her that he hasn't left her side. And then he leaves in order to give her space so that she can change and bathe. And he does the same in Bodhi's room. And he sees her again. He gets turned on, which of course he does. And he's trying to tell her everything, but he needs to know that she's in. And she says that she is, and he loves her, but he doesn't want to tell her that right now because she won't believe him. But he tells her that he wants to earn back her trust and he'll do anything for her, basically. And he's like, trying to talk to her and he's like, I probably only have like 30 seconds until he gets here, so if you want to ask me any questions, like, you need to ask me now. And he doesn't get to answer any of her questions because then Brennan walks in, her brother is alive. And I said, why is it a bad thing that they didn't want her to see him? How does that risk everything for Zaden specifically? [01:01:37] Speaker B: You'll just have to figure that out in book two. [01:01:41] Speaker A: And was I supposed to figure that out right now? Is there? [01:01:43] Speaker B: No, you were. [01:01:44] Speaker A: For me to figure that out. [01:01:45] Speaker B: No, I mean, there's clues, but I don't know if. Enough. [01:01:51] Speaker A: I said, did Taryn's last writer actually resurrect Brennan from the dead? Or is that just the story that was told? Was it like. Was it just a story that they. That he died and nothing actually ever happened? [01:02:07] Speaker B: It could be both. Who knows? [01:02:09] Speaker A: Yeah, so that was my other thing. And I said, what else does she not know? Like, there seems to be layers to this that I don't understand yet. [01:02:18] Speaker B: Like an onion baby, you gotta peel them back one by one. [01:02:22] Speaker A: And unfortunately, I feel like I do not have enough clues in order to see the whole picture because I just don't understand. It's like one of those things where like, yes, technically we've learned about the bevin and the. We're in. But we told. We were told they're folklore. So when they turn out to be not folklore, we're like, oh, okay, that makes sense. Like, I was told Brennan was in this story, but then I was also told, one, he's dead. And two, urine can't resurrect people. It's not a thing. It can't happen. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Even a great siphoner with a great mender is impossible. And so how was I to know that this was on the table, obviously. [01:03:02] Speaker B: And this is me not responding. [01:03:08] Speaker A: Anyway, I can see why my sister. [01:03:11] Speaker B: Really needed the second book. Really needed that. I did too at the time, but I didn't have it yet. [01:03:19] Speaker A: I had to wait. Is real mad about having to wait for the third one. I was like. She was like. I asked her, does that one end on a clicking or two? She's like, of course it does. [01:03:33] Speaker B: It's a good one too. It makes you want to fight somebody like Rebecca. [01:03:41] Speaker A: Okay, so I liked the book. I liked the book overall. I really liked the book. It's very entertaining. It was very fast paced. It was very easy to read. Obviously, I read it in. When I actually sat down to read it both times, both halves. I read it in a couple hours. When I actually sat down and read it, read it instead of like stopping. [01:04:03] Speaker B: It's a good book. You can't put it down. [01:04:05] Speaker A: No, it is very hard to put down. And she. Even though it's not a short timeline and she does kind of skip a little bit, she'll be like, it's been a couple weeks. It's now a month later. It's. Well, you kind of have to do. [01:04:20] Speaker B: That when it's something like, you know, I have a whole year at this school. Right. But she wants the first book to be the first year, the second book to be the second year. Like, if your timetable is so, like, vast, you kind of have to skip a couple weeks here and there. [01:04:38] Speaker A: Right. This is my question. Are we going back to the school in the second book? I now am thinking that we are because you said she wants the second book to be the second year. So now I'm thinking that we're going back to the school. I was thinking maybe we're just outlaws now. [01:04:55] Speaker B: I mean, whether or not we go back to the school, it is her another year older. [01:05:02] Speaker A: Yeah. And so. Okay, so this is my running theory. Hang on. Okay, this is just kind of me now. I'm thinking about things. Okay, so now she's going to be working on the inside. She's basically going to be doing what Satan is doing. So she's going to be trying to. Doing extra missions under everyone's noses. Is she going to tell Rihanna? Is Rihanna going to be mad at her when she finds out about all of this? Is Rihanna going to turn. [01:05:29] Speaker B: It's not Rihanna. Let me start there. It's not Rihanna. [01:05:33] Speaker A: Rhiannon. [01:05:34] Speaker B: Rhiannon. Yes. And second of all, it's not Wern. It's Wyvern. [01:05:42] Speaker A: I don't even remember saying that this time. [01:05:45] Speaker B: You definitely said it. And I had an internal struggle, and I just let you keep going. [01:05:52] Speaker A: Anyway, this is. This is what I'm saying. I just thought of Rhiannon because I just barely remembered that she's gonna have to deal with this anyway. No, she. I feel like she's gonna tell Brianna. Ah, no. There's too many factors at play. She probably won't anyway. It'll be, like, halfway through the book when she finds out, and it's either something where they come together or something that breaks them apart. Obviously, there's only two options. [01:06:17] Speaker B: There's only two options. And join us next week to find gnome king. [01:06:24] Speaker A: So, yeah, now I'm thinking, okay, so she's gonna be going on secret missions, and all the while denying her feelings for Zaden just because. [01:06:34] Speaker B: Just because he lied to her. Bro, this is. [01:06:36] Speaker A: Okay, see, this is my. This is my issue of, like, if you are gonna, like, I don't know, you have to see each other every day, and you're gonna be so damn bad for each other. Like, it's gonna. You guys not being together bad. [01:06:51] Speaker B: Crying at the gym. [01:06:53] Speaker A: I'm just saying I feel like them not being together makes everything a bigger issue than if they are together. Like, if. If they're together, then it just makes communication easier. It just makes being secure easier. It just makes Knowing that you have each other's backs easier. Do you know what I mean? Like, I understand that there needs to be conflict for the plot, but it also. I just hate a miscommunication trope when it's so easy to fix it. [01:07:18] Speaker B: All you need to do is tell each other the truth. [01:07:23] Speaker A: Exactly. [01:07:24] Speaker B: Because I'm down bad. Crying at the gym. Everything comes out teenage virgin. It. [01:07:31] Speaker A: If I can't have him. [01:07:33] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, no, I totally get it. [01:07:36] Speaker A: Anyway, so that's where I'm at. I don't know exactly what you can say to me at this point. [01:07:43] Speaker B: I can't say a lot to you. I can say that after the first book, I was down bad for Zaden. I was anti Dane. Get that out of here. Get it out of here. I don't want to see it again. He cannot come back into our lives. I was really anti mom, too. I mean, like, what a bitch. That's where I was at when I first read that book. [01:08:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:08:11] Speaker B: I can tell you the second book is just as good. There's a lot that goes on, and there's a lot of answers and questions you asked today that get answered in that next book, but there's also a couple of questions that don't really. There's also two other things you're not seeing coming. And. Yeah, this is me saying something about it. [01:08:38] Speaker A: Okay. This is my other thing is, does her mom know that her son is not dead? Can you tell me that? [01:08:47] Speaker B: Why would I tell you that? [01:08:48] Speaker A: Okay. Because if there's a lot of theories that I have, I feel like her dad knew something. Like her dad is going to come into play. [01:08:57] Speaker B: One thing I can tell you for certain is we don't get any dad answers in the next book. [01:09:05] Speaker A: Okay. [01:09:06] Speaker B: You gotta wait a while for that one. Hopefully book three has some answers on that front, but we just get more questions in the next book. [01:09:15] Speaker A: Okay. I'm assuming Braden is good, but no, I shouldn't be assuming that he literally faked his death. Brennan, her brother. [01:09:22] Speaker B: Thank you, Brennan. I heard Braden and I was like, what are we talking about? But that's just me playing a trick on myself. [01:09:31] Speaker A: I feel like Brennan is good. He's a mender. But also, I don't know. I don't know. Why is it so risky? I feel like it's so weird that it's so risky. That's just making me think things. I don't know. [01:09:43] Speaker B: The first chapter of the next book is what explains that. [01:09:49] Speaker A: Really? [01:09:51] Speaker B: Yeah. You get Brennan answers as soon as you open that bitch that's good. That's good for everyone who can open it. Not for you. This is how it felt when we didn't have the next book. [01:10:07] Speaker A: Well, I was gonna say tail our pain. Okay, I suppose I won't read it until we decide to do it for podcast. I won't read it on my leisure time. Just in this last week while I'm at my sister's. [01:10:24] Speaker B: Don't let your sister convince you to pick it up. Don't do it. Okay, two for the plot. [01:10:35] Speaker A: All right. [01:10:36] Speaker B: The plot of our lives. The plot of our lives. [01:10:40] Speaker A: I think that wraps it up, though. I think that's it. I don't know what else I could say. That is it. [01:10:46] Speaker B: Well, we'll see you next week. [01:10:48] Speaker A: Woop, woop.
